Brett's 7x7
I was fortunate to spend some days hunting elk with Brett Brimhall during his archery elk hunt. After spending several days chasing one specific, we decided to spend the afternoon in a different area. Just before dark, this nice 7x7 answered our calls and before we could even get set up we saw his antlers approaching through the trees. It all happened so fast that Brett was unable to use a rangefinder.

Too Small.....
We called this love sick bull in three different times while trying to get the herd bull during an archery elk hunt. He is just a young bull that loved the sound of our cow call.

Chappell Outdoor Video School
I was recently blessed to go to the outdoor video school put on by Steve Chappell at the Glendale, AZ Cabelas location. Many of you know Steve from his guide service, "Chappell Guide Service" and his awesome elk hunting videos, "Extreme Bulls" series and the incredible "Elk Hunting the San Carlos" videos.
His three day course covered a host of subjects from how to choose the right gear to how to create the best filming scenarios in the field for both TV and DVDs.
After taking his class it is easy to see what sets his videos apart from the many other offerings out there. Steve has spent many years studying the art of not just filming, but actually capturing the right footage in the way that makes you feel like you are a part of the hunt. During the three day class he shared many of his tried and tested secrets and actually took us into the field to demonstrate and instruct us on how to apply what we had just learned.
It was an entertaining and educational three days. I highly recommend his course if you are at all interested in taking your outdoor filming to the next level or just thinking about getting started..

Short and Sweet
I saw a couple of bulls this week sporting some new growth! Their stubby eyeguards reminded me of a bull I had filmed a couple years ago. He was short up front, but sweet on top!
